Hello there,

Now I decided I need to finish started modules and features like thieving. It basically allows to thieve random NPCs, that's it … Well … I plan on adding many more actions than just thieve random NPCs. You will be able to do random quests, beat them up, hire them, rescue them, etc … but this update is not about it.

Notoriety is gained by thieving people. You will gain 1 notoriety point by successfully thieving NPCs but this number will increase by 1 each time you fail … so more and more people will know about it. Currently, you can't lower notoriety points but I will do it so it decreases over time or when, perhaps, you do a good deed like rescue NPC (this is not possible at this moment). When you do good deeds when you are not notorious at all, you will gain authority points … the higher the authority, the more likely you will be able to hire random NPC as your ally which will increase your leadership skill (also not available at this time) but the leadership skill will be involved with parties and what not …

So yeah, the more you thieve, the higher the notoriety. The higher the notoriety, the less likely to charm NPC, do quests for them or buy items from them … I may not add town jail but if you are too notorious, guards may start looking for you … I may add guard armies that will be Lv. 1,000+ combined together and then you will have to fight them … they might start attacking you even when you are not in town at all … who knows …

I will also add global notoriety which will combine your notoriety in all towns and then your gear will becomes notorious so just wearing notorious gear will make you wanted … or suspicious at least … I will also add robberies and what not … I think masks will lower the notoriety and stuff but then again … this is not available today … I will add something more to notoriety tomorrow or another day so keep looking forward to it.

Notoriety points and level are different things. You might be looking at level instead of points?

Ah, Lukas, you were right. There was a bug indeed. I fixed it. Now you should successfully gain 10 notoriety points for each failed theft
